Dr. Royden J. Stanford is a board-certified podiatrist and foot surgeon, certified by the American Board of Podiatric Medicine. He provides comprehensive care for a wide range of foot and ankle conditions, with particular clinical interests in pediatrics, biomechanics, sports medicine, and foot and ankle dermatology.

Education & Training

Originally from Calgary, Alberta, Dr. Stanford completed his undergraduate studies at Brigham Young University, earning a Bachelor of Science in Nutrition in 2004. His academic research focused on the effects of magnesium deficiency on cognitive development and hearing.
He went on to earn his Doctorate in Podiatric Medicine from the Ohio College of Podiatric Medicine in Cleveland, Ohio, in 2008. Dr. Stanford then completed a rigorous three-year surgical residency at the Cleveland Louis Stokes Veterans Affairs Medical Center. His residency training included extensive experience in reconstructive foot and ankle surgery, plastic and vascular surgery, trauma care, sports medicine, wound management, infectious disease, and limb preservation. He also contributed to the education and mentorship of medical students during this time.
During his residency, Dr. Stanford trained alongside leading experts in biomechanics, including collaboration with specialists focused on orthotic therapy for athletes at all levels—from recreational runners to elite competitors.

Professional Experience

Following his residency, Dr. Stanford practiced in Southern Maryland with Capital Foot and Ankle Care Centre, providing both clinical and surgical care across multiple locations. He later practiced in Memphis, Tennessee, before relocating to British Columbia in 2014, where he continues to serve the community with a patient-centered, evidence-based approach to podiatric care.

Personal Interests

Outside of clinical practice, Dr. Stanford maintains an active lifestyle and values physical fitness and outdoor recreation. He has a background in competitive bodybuilding and cycling, and remains involved in strength and conditioning training. He has also served as a ski patroller and enjoys coaching and mentoring. Dr. Stanford lives locally with his wife and two daughters and values spending time with family and the outdoors.
